Solidarity Youth Voluntary Organization (SOYVO) is implementing REEVS project (Reducing Economic and Ecological Vulnerability in Sool, and Sanaag) in Sool and Sanaag regions of 2019 to 2021. The Eastern regions are experiencing food insecuriy caused by recurrent droughts and violent conflicts. The project will mainly focus on the transitional aid areas of: reconstruction of basic social and productive infrastructures, Disaster risk reduction and Food security.
Forthcoming Project Activities
SOYVO will implement this project in Ainabo and Burao districts among IDP and pastoralist rural populations. In order to ensure the sustainability of services, SC will work with SOYVO to build its capacity in running saving groups, and trained trainers who will in turn and with support training groups which are formed by SOYVO. SC will establish revolving funds at MFI level and at group’s level. Group level revolving fund will be accessed by well performing groups. MFI level funds will be accessed by trained youth and women entrepreneurs and saving groups, which are the established in towns. this project component will provide entrepreneurship training and establish accessible credit schemes through saving groups, revolving funds and micro-finance services and distribution of physical productive assets like livestock and hens
Saving groups will be handed over to MESAF and locally trained master of trainers which will in turn work with groups and expand the idea. An advocacy and sensitization workshops will be conducted with MFIs aiming at providing accessible credits to project beneficiaries, any future groups and community members at large.
Saving groups will be targeted with urban and rural communities; youth entrepreneurship will only take place in urban towns. Revolving fund will be created for both urban and rural beneficiaries while MFI will only be linked to trained youth and women groups in urban.
